Care Team Biographies

John Murphy, III, D.O.

Dr. John Murphy, III, has been practicing family medicine in the Dayton area for many years.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio State University and his medical degree from Kirksville College of Ostepathic Medicine.  He is board certified in family medicine and has a special interest in sports medicine.

Dr. Murphy, III is the former chief of staff at Grandview Hospital and a clinical professor at both Ohio University College of Ostepathic Medicine and DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Practitioners, the Ohio Society of the ACOFP, the Ohio Osteopathic Association, and the Ohio State Medical Association.

He was named the Ohio College of Osteopathic Medicine's Family Practitioner of the Year and recently received the Master Faculty Award from Ohio University College of Medicine for excellence in teaching.  He is on the staff of the hospitals of Grandview, Southview, Kettering, and Sycamore.  His interests include coaching, teaching, hunting, fishing, and farming.

John Murphy, IV, D.O.

Dr. John Murphy IV joined our practice in 2008.  He received a presidential scholarship to study at Case Western Reserve University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree.  Additionally, earned his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He was honored as Emergency Medicine Intern of the Year during his residency program at Grandview Hospital.

He is board certified in family medicine and has a special interest in pediatric and geriatric medicine.  Dr. Murphy, IV is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Practitioners, the Ohio State Society of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (OHIO ACOFP), the American Osteopathic Association, the Ohio Osteopathic Association, and the Ohio State Medical Association.

He is associated with the hospitals of Grandview, Southview, Kettering, and Sycamore.  Additionally, his interests include sports, running, teaching, and travel.

Kimbra, Joyce, D.O.

Dr. Kimbra Joyce is a board certified family physician who has joined our practice as a full-time health care provider.  She recently completed her residency in Family Practice at Grandview Hospital after receiving her doctorate from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2014.

She is a Dayton native who graduated from Stebbins High School.  She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology from Miami University and a Master in Public Health from Wright State University.

Dr. Joyce is a member in good standing with the American Osteopathic Association, Ohio Osteopathic Association, Dayton District Academy of Osteopathic Medicine, American Academy of Family Physicians, Ohio Academy of Family Physicians, and American College of Osteopathic Physicians.

Her special interests include pediatrics, osteopathic manipulative therapy, women's medicine, and sports and community medicine.  She enjoys being a mom, spending time with her family and friends, traveling, volunteering, and trying new foods.

Andrew Black, P.A-C

Andrew Black graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Cedarville University.  He attended the Kettering College of Medical Arts, where he earned his Master's in Physician Assistant Studies in 2009.  He is board certified and a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.  Andrew has also received awards such as Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges (2009).

He was also awarded the Clinton Trott, M.D. Recognition Award for Clinical Excellence and Professionalism.  Andrew has practiced physician assisting in a family practice since 2009, and he is experienced with diabetic and geriatric care.

Additionally, he is experienced in sports medicine and pediatric care.  Andrew is registered with the Ohio Board of Medicine and credentialed with most public and private health insurance companies.

Andrew lives in the Washington Township area.  He is also married with two sons and one daughter. His interests include, sports, reading, church activities, and spending time with his family.

Mackenzie Rice, P.A-C

Mackenzie received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Dayton.  She recently obtained her Masters in Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Marietta College.  Mackenzie is board certified and a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.  

Mackenzie grew up in the Dayton area, and worked as a nursing assistant at Springmeade Health and Rehabilitation Center prior to Physician Assistant school.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family including her twin sister, watching football, and working out.  Her interests include pediatrics and orthopedics.

Katrina Burgos, P.A-C 

Katrina is a board certified Physician Assistant with Bellbrook Family Practice.  She graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor's of Science degree.  She attended Kettering College and received her Master's of Physician Assistant Studies.

She has previously worked as a patient care technician at Memorial Hospital South Bend.  Katrina is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants.  Her interests include preventative medicine and working with patients of all ages.  She loves to travel, attend concerts, and spend time with friends and family.
